This conclusion was drawn from an expert wine tasting organized by Wine International. Wine International organized the tasting to settle the debate surrounding cork versus screw cap. The wine tasters hired by the organizers are all internationally renowned wine tasting experts, including Penfolds' famous wine consultants Michel Rolland and Peter Gago. The experts tasted 40 wines, each of which was sealed in four forms: natural cork Stoppers, synthetic corks, screwcap caps and regular wine caps. As a result of the tasting, experts gave 21 of the wines that were sealed with screw caps positive reviews. The 1996 Australian Penfolds, sealed with screw caps, was one of the top scorers, with 77% of the reviewers giving it a high rating.
